Wide Bandgap Metal Oxides; Defect-State/Non-Stoichiometry of Metal Oxides; Band Alignment at Semiconductor Junctions; Optical Properties of Nanomaterials; Carbon-Based High Surface Area Materials (Graphene, CNT, Micro/Mesoporous Carbon)/Metal-Oxide Composites for Supercapacitors/Batteries/Fuel Cells; Electro-/Photo-catalysts.
Research Highlights
- Development of nanostructured cathodes, anodes for rechargeable metal-ion/metal-air batteries.
- Designing of novel noble metal free electrocatalysts for energy storage and conversion devices.
- Tuning of work function of inorganic/organic semiconductors to construct band alignment at heterojunction of p-p, n-n and p-n type composites for optoelectronic applications.
- Development of carbon (CNTs/CNFs/graphene) based metal oxide (zinc oxide/titanium oxide) nano-composites/hybrids as an electrode material for supercapacitors.
- Morphology-controlled titaniareduced graphene oxide (RGO) composites for improvement of electrochemical properties. In situ synthesis of carbon based metal oxides to increase interfacial contact strength for better interfacial applications.
- Detailed investigation of chemical bonding between CNFs and ZnO was carried out. Annealing atmosphere and temperature dependent electrochemical properties of carbon based metal oxides. Investigation of bonding between carbon nanofibers and ZnO using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and HRTEM studies
- Toxicity of metal/metal oxides to the living and cancer cell lines was investigated.
Host dependent luminescence properties of rare-earth ions doped phosphate and borate materials for white light emission. Strain-dependent luminescence properties of rare-earth ion doped phosphors for white LEDs.
Enhancement of second harmonic generation efficiency of organic (gamma glycine) crystal in the presence of inorganic (such as KF, KBr, MgCl2) materials for non-linear optical (NLO) application.
